Powell, OH — There are people whose love becomes the heartbeat of a family, whose presence makes a house feel like home, and whose faith quietly leads others to Christ. Nancy Jane Ogg was that person. On July 22, 2026, God called His faithful daughter home, leaving behind hearts that will never be quite the same. Though she first entered this world in Bellevue, Ohio, it was in Nelsonville, Ohio, where she was raised, where her roots took hold, and where the foundation of her life was built. It was there that the values of faith, family, perseverance, and compassion were planted—values she would carry throughout her life and pass on to those she loved most. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, forgave freely, and trusted faithfully in God's plan. While our hearts ache with the weight of her absence, we take comfort in knowing she has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and now rests in everlasting peace with her Savior. Nancy's greatest joy was never found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the people she loved. Above all else, she cherished the blessing of being a mother to her two sons, Matthew and Mikel, who were the pride and joy of her heart. She poured her love, wisdom, and faith into them, always providing encouragement, guidance, and Nancy’s faith was the foundation of her life and guided the way she cared for others. She carried those values into her 31 years with the Ohio Department of Taxation, where she faithfully served the people of Ohio. Nancy approached her work with the same qualities that defined every part of her life—integrity, patience, dependability, and a genuine desire to help. She took pride in being someone others could rely on and brought a quiet strength and kindness to every responsibility she carried. unwavering support as they grew and built lives of their own. Being their mother was one of Nancy’s greatest honors, and she treasured every moment of watching them become the men they are today. For 55 years, Nancy and her beloved husband, John, walked through life together, building a family rooted in love, faith, and commitment. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion and partnership, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Nancy’s greatest gift was the way she cared for those around her. She was the anchor who kept everyone connected, the voice of reason during life’s storms, and the gentle heart who made sure no one ever faced life’s burdens alone. Whether offering guidance, opening her home, or simply listening without judgment, Nancy had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved, valued, and safe. She lived with humility, extended grace freely, and loved her family with all her heart. The legacy she leaves is found in the family she nurtured, the sons she raised, and the love she taught them to share with one another. Nancy’s heart for serving others extended far beyond her professional life. She found countless ways to give her time, talents, and compassion to the community she called home. For 13 years, she volunteered with TWIG (Together With Important Goals), where she contributed her time and energy to support programs that strengthened the lives of others. She also dedicated 13 years of service to SourcePoint, an organization committed to enriching the lives of older adults by providing support, resources, and meaningful connections that help seniors thrive. In addition, Nancy gave her time to the Justice League of Powell and the Kiwanis Club of Powell, always looking for opportunities to make a positive impact. For 20 years, Nancy proudly served as an OSU Redcoat, sharing her love for the Buckeyes while creating countless memories alongside her beloved husband, John. Together, they welcomed fans into The Ohio State Stadium, embraced the traditions of Buckeye football, and enjoyed being part of a community that brought them so much happiness. Those years reflected the joy Nancy found in being surrounded by people and sharing meaningful experiences with those she loved. Whether through her career, her volunteer work, or the countless ways she cared for family and friends, Nancy lived with a generous spirit and a genuine desire to make others feel valued. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the love she shared with others, and the impact she made will continue through all who were blessed to know her. Nancy was the kind of person whose love became a safe place for others. She was the one people turned to for encouragement, wisdom, and comfort because they knew they would always be met with patience, understanding, and grace. Her presence brought people together, her compassion gave strength to those around her, and her life reflected the love of Christ in all she did. Nancy leaves behind her beloved sons, Matthew and Mikel (Megan); her grandchildren; nieces, nephews; extended family; and the many friends who became like family and were blessed by her kindness, guidance, and love. After the loss of her beloved husband, John, who went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2026, Nancy completed her earthly journey just a short time later on July 22, 2026. Though her family grieves the loss of two remarkable people so close together, they find comfort in knowing that Nancy and John’s love story did not end with this life. After a lifetime of walking side by side in faith, they are together again in the eternal peace promised by God. Nancy was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband, John; her parents, John and Ruth Matheny; her brother, Ronnie Watkins; her sister, Linda Stover; and the loved ones who had gone before her. Her family is forever changed by her absence, but forever strengthened by the faith, love, and example she gave them. A service celebrating Nancy’s life and entry into eternal glory will be held at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, located at 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065. Calling hours will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4-6 pm and Friday, July 31, 2026, from 11:00-12:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 12:00 pm. A celebration of Nancy and John’s lives will be held with family and friends on August 21, 2026, the anniversary of the day they began their life together. This special gathering will honor the love, faith, and devotion they shared throughout 55 years of marriage and celebrate the lasting legacy they leave through the many lives they touched. In celebration of Nancy’s life, her love for the Buckeyes, and the joy she found in bringing people together, guests are warmly invited to wear Ohio State gear or her favorite color, blue.
