Lois Gifford

Lois Gifford (née Miller), a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her intelligence, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and friends, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Texas to the late Virginia and Myron Miller. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Gifford, her parents, and her infant daughter, Joanna. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Colleen) and Brian (Susan) Gifford, and her cherished grandson, Keegan Gifford, her beloved sisters Mary, Patsy and Myrna and nieces and nephews. Lois was a brilliant and driven woman with dreams of attending Stanford University. However, when she received a full scholarship to Marietta College, her parents encouraged her to seize the opportunity. She graduated with a degree in Biology, and it was at Marietta that she met the love of her life, Roger. Their bond was deep and unwavering. When Roger joined the Air Force, Lois supported him wholeheartedly, and together they built a life rooted in love and resilience. Lois devoted herself to raising her sons, nurturing a family life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of being together. When Roger passed away in 1990, Lois demonstrated her resilience. After nearly 20 years out of the workforce, she returned to college and re-entered the workforce, using her Biology degree to build a successful career at the Red Cross until her retirement. In her later years, Lois continued to live life to the fullest. She surrounded herself with friends, stayed active and volunteered in her church and community, enjoyed playing bridge, and cherished every moment spent with her grandson, Keegan. Her love for adventure led her to travel the world. Lois’s life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the pursuit of joy. She will be remembered as an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14th from 10 to 11am with a service beginning at 11am at Rutherford Funeral Home 515 High Street in Worthington, OH.
