Juanita H. Wilson

Juanita Huff was born September 2, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia to William Henry Huff and Willie Lou Morgan Huff. She went home to the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 8:20 am. Juanita received her B.A. in psychology from Briar Cliff University. While pursuing her master’s degree in Social Work at Clark Atlanta University, she met her future husband and love of her life, Norman Lee Wilson. The two were joined in holy matrimony on December 18th, 1971. From this union were born one son and two daughters: Ryan Christopher Wilson, Courtney Elaine Wilson, and Melanie Brett Wilson. In addition to being a strong and loving wife and mother, Juanita dedicated 36 years of her life to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs as a social worker, then as a psychotherapist after her tenure. After retiring, she took particular delight in caring for her grandchildren, who affectionately called her ‘Nina.’ There were many joys in Juanita’s life - including quilting, British dramas, country music, baking, and reading. The health and wellbeing of her family and those she held close filled her spirit the most. She was unyielding in her care, support, and protection of her family, as well as all whom she encountered. She advocated for those who could not advocate for themselves, and spent her career counseling veterans in particular, and fighting on their behalf for better access to resources. She maintained a strong Catholic faith and believed in treating all people with respect and dignity. Juanita was generous beyond measure, and always put others before herself. Juanita Huff Wilson will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her: her husband of 50 years, Norman Wilson, her son, Ryan (Katy) Wilson, two daughters, Courtney Wilson, and Melanie (Jedidiah) Lee, her treasured seven grand- and two great-grandchildren, one brother , William Howard Huff, and one sister, Leona Huff James, as well as a great many friends and family. Your emotional and spiritual support during this difficult time has been incredible, and we love you dearly. Your love is deeply felt and appreciated by each and every one of us.
