Joseph E. Staley

Joseph Emmett Staley, 78, of Powell, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015. He was born in Columbus to the late Joseph D. and Rosemary Staley. He was a 1955 graduate of Linden McKinley High School, attended The Ohio State University and graduated from Franklin University. He twice served in the United States Army. He was a retired self-employed Certified Public Accountant. Joseph was a founding member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and a former member of the National Society of CPAs, the Columbus Bar Association, and the Linden McKinley Reunion Friends. He enjoyed following many local sports teams, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew, as well as the soccer and lacrosse programs at Delaware Hayes High School and Buckeye Valley High School. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Joan (Francisco) Staley. He was very proud of his sons David (Alexa), of Columbus, and Eric (Jill), of Delaware; and moreover, his grandchildren Adam (Sheena), of Newark, Andrew and Adrienne, of Delaware, and Owen, of Columbus. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Jon Staley, of Las Vegas, NV and his sister, Judy (Mike) Cassady, of Mount Vernon, OH as well as sister-in-law, Janet Thomas, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, brothers-in-law Jim (Sylvia) Francisco, of Columbus, Joe (Bonny) Francisco, of Columbus, many nieces and nephews, and his, and Joan's, best friends, John and Nancy Pawlowski, of Columbus. Joseph will be remembered as a loving husband and father, genuine friend, and a true gentleman, always insisting upon standing when a lady entered the room. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, OH 43065 with The Reverend James Black, Celebrant. Private burial will be held by the family at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
