Joseph A. Bushek

Joseph Anthony Bushek, age 87, of Dublin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 14, 2011 at home. Born in Shenandoah, PA to the late John W. and Bertha Bushek, he was a graduate of Shenandoah High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Mt. St. Mary’s (MI) College and his MBA from Columbia University in New York. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. He began his long career with Nationwide Insurance Company as an accountant. He later received his C.P.C.U. certification and was promoted to a regional manager and then returned to Columbus as Vice-president, Internal Audit and Vice-president, Corporate Controller-positions which he would hold simultaneously. He retired in 1987. Joseph served as Chairman of the United Way and was on the Board of the Nationwide Credit Union. A model of integrity, Joe demonstrated that integrity in his career and his family life. A devout Catholic, Joe and his wife Julia were founding parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where Joe was a Knight of Columbus. Joe and Julia were both very active in the parish’s St. Vincent DePaul Society. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Julia Bushek; children: Karen (Dave) Reinker, of San Diego, CA; Dr. Stephen (Grazyna) Bushek, of Worthington; Joan (Peter) Schnabel, of Hudson, NH; Mark (Maria) Bushek, of Emmaus, PA; David (Debbie) Bushek, of Vineland, NJ; grandchildren: Chris Reinker, Kelly Reinker, Joe (Erin) Bushek, Maggie (Stephen) Callendar, Emily (Ryan) Folsom, Mark Schnabel, Will Bushek, Drew Bushek and Danielle Bushek; brother-in-law: Eddie Poli, of Philadelphia, PA; and many friends. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm. FRIDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 10700 Liberty Rd., Powell, OH 43065 with The Reverend Jeffrey E. Tigyer, Celebrant. Private family burial will be observed at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH.
