John "Johnny" Allen Risch

John Allen Risch, affectionately known as Johnny, passed away in Columbus Ohio on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the age of 54. Johnny was a Mother’s Day baby, born on May 11, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio to John Dudley and Eva Mae Risch. Johnny spent most of his life in and around Central Ohio. Johnny was a graduate from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1987. He went on to further his education studying transportation at THE Ohio State University, class of 1992. He also went back and attended Columbus State for skilled trades, in welding in 2013. During his college days, he worked at a local pizza shop, known as Katie’s and Granddad’s. He was known for making the best pizzas, and could usually always be found in the kitchen working on a new recipe. Johnny had many hobbies and LOVED to tinker. Rebuilding, refinishing and retooling were some of his favorite things to do, and he was always planning and looking forward to his next project. Recently he had worked to start up his own refinishing company. While working at Railvan, Johnny met the love of his life, Lisa (Chucales) Risch in 1999. Not long after, he met her children, Ashley and Nick, whom he loved dearly, and thought of as his own. Johnny and Lisa married May 18, 2002 at Stonybrook Church in Gahanna Ohio. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and joy. Johnny was the definition of a family man and devoted his life to his family. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandpa, aka Grumpy, to Luke. He also loved all of the family pets dearly. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John Dudley Risch, grandparents John & Josephine Risch, and Mack & Irma Powers, and uncle, Roger Risch. He was welcomed at the gates of the Rainbow Bridge by their family dog, Roxy. Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Chucales) Risch; mother, Eva Mae Risch; daughter, Ashley (Mason) Chucales; son, Nick (Amanda) Happ; grandson, Lucas Huntsman; family dog, Lucy; and father-in-law, Gus Chucales. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn (John) Folk; nieces, Lauren (Garrett Meccariello) Folk, Morgan (Will) Folk, and Erin (Trey) Folk; Johnny is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members as well as an enormous group of friends and co-workers. A funeral service to honor the life and legacy of John “Johnny” Allen Risch will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Powell United Methodist Church, 825 Olentangy St, Powell, Ohio 43065, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Johnny will be truly missed by many. Our hearts are broken as we say see you later to our loving, funny, sweet, kind and caring Johnny.
