John T. Dudek

John T. Dudek, age 81, of Powell, Ohio and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus after a long and brave battle with diabetes and heart disease. His loving family was at his side. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late John and Julia Dudek, John was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 1949 and attended NYU. After settling in Central Ohio, he worked and retired from Riverside Methodist Hospital as Material Manager. A parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, John was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, Council #10765. He formerly attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie and was a member of Florentine Council #304, Knights of Columbus since 1952. An avid drummer in his youth, John was a student of Gene Krupa and played many gigs with major and local bands including Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey. John was a marshal at the Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin, Ohio and enjoyed volunteering his time at the annual St. Joan of Arc Lenten Fish Fry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Joseph Dudek and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Paul Pelish. John is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Mary L. Dudek; his daughter Monica Rockefeller, of Dublin; granddaughters: Erin Rockefeller, of Dublin and Brie (Stacey) Rockefeller-Williamson, of New Albany, Ohio; siblings: Joan (Werner) Keil of Poughkeepsie, Florence (Joseph) Gallagher of Poughkeepsie, Thomas (Judy) Dudek of Maryland, and their familes; sisters-in-law: Barbara Dudek and Joan Dudek, both of Florida; sister-in-law: Karen (Carl) Naber, of Hyde Park, NY. Family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm. THURSDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, OH 43065 with The Reverend Jeffrey E. Tigyer, Celebrant. Burial will be held for the family at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
