Jean L. Hummel

Jean Louise Hummel passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024. Jean was born to Claude Ivory and Constance Louise Hummel on March 21, 1945. After graduating from Westlake High School in Westlake, Ohio, she went on to graduate from Ohio State University in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in education. Throughout her career, she was a bookkeeper, administrative assistant, and officer manager. She retired in 2005 from Earman & Wood, CPAs. Jean had a very strong faith in the Lord and was a dedicated member of Grace Polaris Church. She gave her time graciously to various organizations tied to the church, specifically the cancer support group. Jean valued her family and friendships above all else. For those who were fortunate enough to know her, her presence in their lives was special. Words commonly used to describe Jean always included sweet, kind, giving, gracious and generous. She loved to travel with her friends and cousins, having been to Jordan, Israel, Scottland, Hawaii, the US Virgin Islands and various places throughout the United States. She was looking forward to traveling to Florida with her cousins in February and again in August on a land/sea excursion to Alaska. Jean truly felt blessed to have had the life she lived, with so many good friends and special family members who loved her dearly. Jean is preceded in her death by Claude and Louise Hummel, her brother Robert C Hummel and cousin Michael Bradley. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carole Hummel, nephew Robert C Hummel II, his wife Patty and their four children, Carley (James), Madison, Katie and Bobby, her niece Jennifer Ostenson, husband Eric and 3 stepchildren, Kelsey, Taran and Cole. Also survived by cousins Robert Keehl and wife Judy; Georgia K Bradley, her husband Jim and daughter Liz; Sandy Crosser and her husband Ron and children Kelly (Kris), Kevin (Lois), David (Angela); and Ronnie Beth Moore, her husband Dennis and children Kelly and Lisa. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19th at 1:00 at Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington Galena Road in Westerville, Ohio.
