James "Red" Paul Muir

James P, “Red” Muir, age 77, of Columbus, Ohio has reunited with many family and friends in Heaven. Red worked at United Refrigeration for over 55 years. When anyone needed help, be it family, friend, neighbor, or coworker, he was the man they called. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Barbara and Emerson Muir; parents-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles Herriott; brothers, David and Phillip Muir; brother-in-law David Herriott; Ray Watson; and many lifelong friends. Red is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Judith K. “Judy” Muir; daughter, Kelley (Pablo) Taura; son, James “JT” (Kelly); grandchildren, Madison “Maddie” and Matthew Taura; sisters, Judy (Norm) Parrish, Pam (Don) Dolby, Katie (Bill) Brintlinger, Shelley (Rick) Dulin, Barbie (Chris) Marchese; sisters-in-law Doris (Phillip, dec.) Janice (Ray, dec.) Watson, and Joyce Herriott; brother-in-law Tim (Toon) Herriott; and many more nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends. Red was an avid horse enthusiast, and sports fan. He cheered for the Buckeyes, Browns, Blue Jackets, Reds, and the Yankees. Red and Judy loved to travel. They visited various horse racetracks throughout the US and a couple in Europe. He always tried to catch every Triple Crown and Breeders Cup. Red and Judy also visited Ireland several times, Germany, and Las Vegas. Red loved playing games with his friends: softball in his youth and golf later in life. Red was always telling stories. At every gathering, the same stories would come up, and grow! Red will always be remembered as the man that not only helped with HVAC, but with anything you needed. He was forever on the phone giving sage advice. Red was dearly loved and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in James Muir’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on July 17, 2024 at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 18th at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S High St, Lockbourne, OH 43137.
