James "Jim" Richard Murley

James R. “Jim” Murley, age 74, of Worthington, OH, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 22, 2016. Jim was the son of the late Robert Temple and Bella Paradise Murley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John Murley and Charles Murley. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Karen S. Murley, his son Dirk S. Murley, daughter Jamie (Michael) Nicks, and his grandchildren Samantha Murley, Andrew A. Wright and Ashleigh Turner. Jim was born in San Mateo, CA and served in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1958-1962. After his naval service, he started pursuing his artistic side. Jim was a naturally gifted artist in many different media including graphic design, illustration rendering and architectural design. He was an avid race fan and President and CEO of SuperKarts! USA beginning his racing career on dirt bikes, hotrods, boats and sprint cars. Jim loved the outdoors and spent many hours with family and friends on the water fishing and skiing, and camping, hiking, cliff jumping and shooting. Jim’s passion in his later years was golfing with his wife and good friends Mike and Kathy Larson. Jim loved life and chased it fearlessly! He was a mentor and friend to all as demonstrated by his selfless desire to help others. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family will welcome friends from 3:00-6:00p.m. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2016 at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471 where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00p.m. with Chaplain Louie Massalas, officiating. United States Navy Honors will conclude the service. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) In keeping with Jim’s wishes, his cremated remains will be scattered on his father’s grave in Pleasant River, Nova Scotia, Canada.
