J. Daniel Cassidy

J. Daniel Cassidy, age 81, of Columbus, OH, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Kobacker House. Born in Columbus to the late John and Frances Cassidy, he was a graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School, Class of 1952. Dan attended The Ohio State University where he was a proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity and graduated from Franklin University. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1996 where he was a Highway Engineer. Dan was a faithful, founding parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church where he was co-founder of the Singles Again Group. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jason Bogdanovitch. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carol Cassidy; his children: Kevin (Christy) Cassidy of Westerville, OH, Colleen (Robert) Bauman of Pickerington, OH, Cheryl Palm of Marion, OH, Kimberly (Agustin) Ponce de Leon of Shaker Heights, OH, Jeffrey (Helene) Conrath of Dayton, OH, R. Christopher (Christine) Cassidy of Cleveland, OH and Katherine Bogdanovitch of Ostrander, OH; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his brother W. Michael (Marilyn) Cassidy of Buckeye Lake, OH; his sister Patricia (Richard) Luchtenberg of Columbus; his sister-in-law Marcia (R. Eugene) Winters of Newcomerstown, OH; and his many nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m. WEDNESDAY (TODAY) at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471 with Prayer Service at 7:30p.m. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00a.m. THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2015 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, OH 43235 with The Reverend Mark Summers, Celebrant. Burial will be observed later by the family at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH.
