Hazel Marie "Zieg" James

Hazel Marie Zieg James, age 98, of Worthington Christian Village, Columbus, Ohio. Hazel was born in Fredericktown, Ohio on November 30, 1912 and passed away May 28, 2011. Preceded in death by parents, Franklin and Elizabeth Barth Zieg; former husbands, Gerald “Jerry” Jacobs, Charles “Charlie” Cummins and Carl James; sister and brother-in-law, Stella Zieg and Dwight Montgomery; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jessie Zieg; and granddaughter, Rebecca Black Kendall. Hazel loved, was loved and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who survive her: daughter, Marcie Jacobs Black; sons, Robert (Marilyn) Jacobs and Thomas (Jan) Jacobs all of Columbus and Powell; step-daughter, Susan Cummins Black of Urbana and her four children and their children; friend and companion, Clifford Day; and good friend, Mary Kay Brown; grandchildren, Steven (Jan) Black of Spokane, WA, Jeffrey (Janene) Jacobs, Jennifer (Rich) Rudek, Jillene (Greg) Myers, Christopher Jacobs, Paige (Michael) Francis and Dean Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Anna and Justin Black, Carter, Lindsey and Lauren Rudek, Logan and Hayden Isaacs, Janelle Francis and Rachel Jacobs all of the Columbus area; nieces, Carolyn Montgomery (Fred) Gregory of Dallas, TX and Joan Zieg Steinbrenner of Tampa FL. Hazel was a member of the Fredericktown Presbyterian Church from childhood and Worthington Presbyterian Church for 62 years. She was a Founding member of Eastern Star-Ann Hill Chapter No. 81of Fredericktown, OH; a Charter member and first President of Past Masters Ladies Club in 1977 in Columbus; Worthington Women's Club member 58 years; Worthington Historical Society; Friends of the Worthington Library; Flint Community Club and a volunteer at The Worthington Christian Village. She attended Miami University of Ohio for two years. Memorial Service to be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 14,2011 at the Worthington Christian Village, 165 Highbluffs Blvd., Columbus OH. Burial in Flint Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive friends before and after the service. The family would like to thank the Worthington Christian Village 6th and 7th floors nursing staff and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care of Hazel.
