Glenn E Sharp

Glenn E. Sharp, 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. He was born May 6, 1931, in Akron, OH, and lived his entire life in Columbus, OH. Glenn started working at age 8 alongside his father, who had a fruit and vegetable truck at the Central Market in downtown Columbus. He was a proud North High School Polar Bear, graduating in 1949. Glenn served in the Ohio Army National Guard during the Korean War from 1951 to 1959. He retired after 40 years with Columbus Southern Power/ AEP as an overhead lineman. After retirement he worked at Sears hardware and did handyman jobs. He also volunteered at the McConnell Heart Health Center in the Longaberger Cafe with his faithful friend Al Acierno for 20 years. His final job was driving for The Forum for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Deborah Rieser, son-in-law Michael Rieser, daughter-in-law Gwen Sharp, sister and brother-in-law Katie and George Love, and step-grandson Brian Puskas. Glenn is survived by Brenda Wheeler, his wife of 35 years, sons Daniel Sharp and Doug (Angie) Sharp; grandchildren Brian, Shawn (Traci) Clemens, Jason (Lacey) Sharp, Jackie (Tim) Fleming, Amanda (Chad) Beecher, many great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Glenn was an avid Buckeye fan and a faithful Browns fan through all their ups and downs. He enjoyed sailing with his daughter at Hoover Dam; skiing, golfing, and playing tennis with his son Dan; and playing cards, bowling, and vacationing with friends. He enjoyed any activity in the water, especially cruising, whitewater rafting, and trips to the beach. Glenn experienced two monumental events that changed his life: hiking down the Grand Canyon and taking the Honor Flight. Glenn will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful gentleman who gave the best and warmest hugs. A Celebration of Life will be held at Advent Lutheran Church, 3660 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio on April 12, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. service.
