Donald O Shue

Donald O’Neal Shue, age 83, of Worthington, Ohio, completed his earthly journey and went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2025, peacefully at his home. Donald was born on June 21, 1942, in Concord, North Carolina, to Earlie Lawson and Julia Katherine Shue. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in Flint, Michigan in 1960, then Cedarville College, Cedarville, Ohio, with Bachelor degrees in Elementary Education and Theology in 1967. Donald paid for his college by working at the GM Factory in Flint, Michigan, throughout his undergraduate college experience. He went on to graduate from Grace College and Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana, with a Master Degree in Theology in 1971. He obtained his PhD in Educational Administration from Ohio University in 1988. Donald married Susan Spears on January 28, 1967, in St Clair Shores, Michigan. They were married 46 years until she went to be with the Lord in March 2013. They met on the first day of her Spring Semester at Cedarville College in 1965. Donald and Susan lived in multiple towns throughout their marriage including Flint Michigan, Wilson North Carolina, Athens and Marietta areas, Ohio. They moved to Worthington, Ohio, in 2007 to be closer to their daughter’s family. Donald is survived by his daughter, Bethany (Stephen) Moore, and two adored grandchildren, Kennedy and Ethan, all of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Douglas (Norma) Shue, Philip (Donna) Shue, Debbie (Randy) Allen, brother-in-law John Patchett, all living in Michigan, sister-in-law Marilyn Nichols of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Susan Shue, parents Earlie and Katherine Shue, and sister Bonnie Patchett, who were all rejoicing and waiting at the gates of Heaven upon his arrival. Known to many for his love of his Lord and Savior and kind heart, he was the minister of multiple churches in southeastern Ohio including Albany Baptist Church and Carpenter Baptist Church. He was a beloved elementary teacher at Rankin Elementary School, Swartz Creek, Michigan, Wilson Christian School, Wilson, North Carolina, and Shade Elementary School, Shade, Ohio. He became an Elementary School Principal in Eastern Local Schools in the early 1990s, then retired from Cheshire Elementary, Fort Frey School District, Beverly, Ohio, in 2007. After retirement and moving to Central Ohio, Donald became a member of Grace Polaris Church where he was involved in the ministries of Vacation Bible School, Grief Share, Keenagers, and Sunday outreach to local assisted living facilities. Donald loved and cared for his family with all of his being throughout his well-lived life. A funeral service will be held at 9am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Flint Cemetery where Donald will be laid to rest. The family will receive visitors 6-8pm on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home.
