Donald E. Mantz

Donald E. Mantz II, 56, of Powell, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 with his wife by his side. He was born on January 26th, 1968, to Donald and Betty Mantz and grew up in Enon, Ohio. He married Brandy Reinhart on January 1, 1996 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Brandy Mantz; children, Lauren (Alex) Schnulo, Morgan Mantz, and Devin Mantz; sister, Cynthia Whitcomb; brother-in-law, Kirk (Julie) Reinhart; sister-in-law, Courtney Stryker; mother-in-law, Barbara (Bob) Draper; father-in-law, Roger Reinhart; and his grandpuppy, Nala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Mantz and his father-in-law, James Sutton. Don began working at Ponderosa while in high school and was promoted to a manager once he turned 18. He next worked as a manager at Discover Card for 10 years where he met Brandy. Then he followed his car passion and went into car sales for a few years. He spent a combined 21 years at AT&T and Verizon in various leadership roles. He cared deeply about his employees and coworkers. People who worked with Don have shared many stories of the positive impact he left on their lives, from helping them in their careers to giving advice to any question when asked. Anyone who worked with Don would tell you he was an amazing and genuine person, and even the best boss ever. Don also had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and founded many successful businesses. For 23 years, he owned long term rental homes in Hilliard, Ohio and later created a flourishing cabin rental business in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Don and Brandy had a very special bond. When he asked for permission to marry her, he promised to always take care of her, and he kept that promise. They enjoyed working and playing together. They loved traveling around the country with family or just the two of them. Don was always the picture taker, documenting their life story. They cherished raising a family together. Their children meant the world to Don, and he did everything he could to help them get ahead in life, from advice, to practical life lessons, to teaching them to be resourceful. Even when it might go unnoticed, he made sure to take care of his family. His children didn't realize how much maintenance he did on their cars until they moved out and started asking him why their gas was running out so fast, and why they suddenly needed oil changes and tire rotations when they never needed it before. Don had a love for cars that spanned from his first Karmann Ghia to his current Porsche 911 Carrera. Over the years he owned a great variety of trucks, cars and even a tractor, gator and an amphibious vehicle. He bought and sold many older vehicles after restoring them. He was quick to make friends when discussing cars. He once commented that he believed he had owned over 150 vehicles in his lifetime. Don was known for lighting up the room with his amazing smile and having a positive, can-do attitude. He was always there for others whether it was family, friends or even strangers. He did not want to leave his family yet, but God called him home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065. Visitation will be Friday March 1st, from 4 PM to 6 PM with a Funeral Service at 6 PM.
