Clyde Scott

Clyde Scott, age 89, formerly from Worthington and Piedmont Ohio as well as Sebastian Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his daughter Susan’s home on Tuesday morning June 27, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Aline and daughters Susan and Jean. Clyde was born January 23, 1934 in Cleveland Ohio, son of the late John and Mary Scott. He graduated from High School in Cleveland Ohio and received his Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in Ohio. He also earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Clyde served our Country in the United States Army as a Tank Commander. He had a prosperous career. His last position was at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections for the State prison system. Proudly and joyfully, he retired at age 55! Clyde was a dedicated and active member in many Masonic Fraternities. He was a member of the Tommy Jones Demolay Chapter and the timeframe when he met Aline. He was Past Worshipful Master and 50-year member of the New England Lodge #4. Also, a member of Worthington Shrine Club, Horace Wright #226, Frank H. Nicklaus Council#208, Allied Masonic Degrees, Zabud Council #99. Scottish Rite, Mount Vernon Commandery #1, Knights Templar Drill Team, Royal Order of Scotland, and Honorary member of the Freeport Lodge in Ohio. Past Worthy Patron and Marshal of Worthington Chapter #287 Eastern Star and Worthy Patron of Sebastian Chapter #204 Eastern Star. He was a Board Member for Columbus Assembly #172 International Order of Rainbow Girls. More than anything he loved spending time with family at his home in Worthington, the Cottage on Piedmont Lake and winters in their Sebastian, Florida home. He and Aline created many memorable traditions for Birthdays and Holidays. One of his favorite Holidays was Thanksgiving at the Lake. His brother Ken and his family were also there in one Cottage away. We enjoyed many shenanigans, chopping down trees, building big bonfires, and riding the golf cart. He always sliced the turkey! Clyde also enjoyed visiting his brothers and sisters and inviting them to come to his homes. Beloved husband to his wife Aline and loving father of Beth, Susan and Jean (Ken). Survived also by sister Nancy Gibbons, sister-in-law Marie (John) Scott and Rita (Ken) Scott, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Scott, brothers John, Ken and Willie, sisters Lucille Wallace, and Mary (Edward) Spence and the tragic loss of his daughter Beth. Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, September 7th, 2023. Visitation starts at 6 pm, Masonic Service at 7 pm followed by the Celebration of Life.
