Cheri Weitzel Paquette

Cheryl (Cheri) Weitzel Paquette, age 49, of Powell, Ohio passed away on May 24, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born October 12, 1973 to Thomas Weitzel and Janice Osterloh Weitzel in Kettering, Ohio. Cheri grew up in Pickerington, Ohio with her family and graduated from Pickerington Central in 1992 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She went on to Ohio University where she received her BS in Accounting. She subsequently earned her CPA certification. For 18 years she has been an Accountant at Nationwide Insurance Company in downtown Columbus. On June 5, 2010, Cheri married Stephen Paquette in Columbus, Ohio. She was a devoted wife to her husband and a nurturing mother of two cherished sons, Wyatt, almost 11, and Grady, 9. Their children’s well-being, and school, sports and social activities were of prime importance to her and Steve always. Cheri is survived by her husband, Steve; their two sons, Wyatt and Grady; her parents, Tom and Jan Weitzel of Powell; brothers, Greg (Nancy) Weitzel of Atlanta and Dan Weitzel of Columbus; mother-in-law, Virginia Paquette of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Greg (Barb) Paquette, Tom Paquette, and David (Tami) Paquette. Mourning her loss also are loved nieces and nephews, Jake Weitzel, Joe Weitzel, Mary Kate Weitzel, Rachela Weitzel, Zach Paquette, Audrey Paquette, Jamie Isaac, Jesse Isaac, Kristan Carrol, and many special cousins, friends, and neighbors. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, Ohio. The service will be livestreamed for anyone unable to attend by going to www.stjoanofarcpowell.org and click on The Video Stream. There will be a chance to offer condolences to the family from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the Narthex of the Church. Immediately after the Mass, we will be proceeding from the Church to Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 High Street, Lewis Center, Ohio. After the interment there will be a luncheon at St. Joan of Arc Social Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to an education fund for Wyatt and Grady, which will be established. For the present time, if using a check, it can be made out to Stephen Paquette. On the memo line, please write “For Wyatt and Grady, Education Fund”. She was adventure-loving, so trips to amusement parks with Steve and their sons were thoroughly enjoyed. Steve and Cheri were avid roller coaster fans. Many fun trips with family and extended family were a highlight of their life. Friends were very important to her, and she loved hearing from them and seeing them. Thank you to the dedicated staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital who worked tirelessly during the two days she was there. Love and appreciation to so very many who have offered condolences, support, and caring at this difficult time. Our hearts are broken, but we are so grateful for the time we did have with her. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
