Charles Zak Jr.

Charles Zak, Jr., 67, of Dublin, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 20, 2013. A Vietnam Veteran , he was a Captain in the United States Army. After the military he graduated from the University of Houston and went on to form his own residential construction company that spanned a 25 year career. Diagnosed with MS in 1991, he met its challenges on a daily basis and lived his life. An early retirement left him with many years to fish and camp and enjoy his adored grandchildren. His year-long battle with Leukemia was again met with determination and resilience. The family would like to thank the SCI Clinic at the Columbus VA for their years of care-especially Cheryl and Lisa who made sure he had every medication or equipment he needed. Thanks to the staff at the 11th Floor of The James who were always smiling and through their efforts gave us another year of his life. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Joann, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carla; daughter Christie (Adam) Heinlen; grandchildren: Alyssa, Chase and Merritt; brother Ron (Margie) Zak; sister-in-law Joyce (Joe) Cipriani; and many other relatives and friends.
