Charles R. Johnson Sr.

Charles R. Johnson, Sr., age 93, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on May 25, 1922 in Monroe Co., Ohio to Forest and Lula (Reed) Johnson who preceded him in death. Charles married the love of his life, Martha Jean Shaffer and they were married for 65 wonderful years and she survives in Powell. Charles was a graduate of Granville High School, Class of 1940. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater, and a graduate of The Ohio State University Business School. He had an extensive sales career and was a real estate broker, serving on the Columbus Board of Realtors. He also was a member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of the Dublin Kiwanis Club, a member of University Lodge #631, F&AM, a 32nd Degree Mason-Valley of Columbus, and a member of Aladdin Temple Shrine, He was also a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church and the Top of the Hill Gang, a member of the Goodwill Men's club at Dublin Community Church and was part of the original Charter Commission of the City of Dublin. Charles is also survived by his sons, Charles R. (Linda) Johnson Jr. and Jeffrey R. Johnson; daughter, Janet B. (Paige) McMahon; and grandchildren, Katherine B. McMahon, Connor J. McMahon and Christopher F. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Johnson and his sister Helen Kuninger. (at the corner of Olentangy River Road and Home Road), Delaware, Ohio 43015 with Rev. Dr. John Hart officiating. Private burial will be observed by the family at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, Ohio.
