C. Daniel Bartley. On Saturday, October 25, 2008, a beautiful fall day, C. Daniel Bartley was called home with the God he loved. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Bartley. Dan was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky. He often shared the many stories of fun, practical jokes, and sometimes trouble he was able to find himself in. Upon graduation from high school, Dan served his country in the US Army, 1st Air Calvary, earning the Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals. Dan married his first love and high school sweetheart Cheryle Strong who preceded him in death on May 22, 1985. After earning his MBA from Kentucky Wesleyan University, Dan and Cheryle made their home in West Jefferson, Oh. Dan lived in West Jeff for many years, raising Kim and Tom. As a single dad, he played a very active role in all areas of their lives. He loved to attend local football games and coaching youth leagues. It was during his professional pursuits that Dan came to meet his second and last love, Donna Ott. Dan and Donna were married on June 15, 1991. Taking a family from three to six with the addition of Donna's daughters, Kelie and Denys, he did not think twice about loving and raising them as his own. Years of love and laughter later, Dan and Donna share four children and five grandchildren. Family, friends, his career in sales, UK Basketball and golf were his passion. Despite any obstacles he faced, whether on the course or in life, he remained a constant optimist. Dan became as much a success in his professional life as he was in his personal life, often unable to see any lines between the two. He served as both a respected leader and mentor to those within business and church. A member of Christian Fellowship Church, he leaves us with the memory of his renewed foundation with God, a commitment to family and UK Basketball. Dan had life filled to capacity with love overflowing and he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father TC Bartley, mother Ruby C. Foster and his first wife Cheryle S. Bartley. He is survived by his wife, Donna Bartley of Powell; children, Kimberly Bartley (Derrick Carter), Tom Bartley (Nicci), Kelie Medley (Andy) and Denys Bartley; grandchildren, Drew, Ethan, Brandon, Madison and Amanda; brothers, Al Foster (Lori) of Muncie, Ind. and Kevin Foster of Owensboro; step-father, Jim Foster of Owensboro; and many friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME at POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio 43065, 614-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Christian Fellowship Church, 5970 Godown Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43235, where family will receive friends one hour before the service. Pastor Dick Gauch officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Oh.
