Braden Patrick Markus

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24. This was one of Braden’s favorite scripture passages. Braden lived his life in a way that those who watched him, observed him live in the present day and be grateful for all that he had. We can all take away of piece of this lesson with us, from this beautiful and brave child. Braden Patrick Markus, 15, of Lewis Center, Ohio passed away on Sunday, October 17th, 2021. Braden was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 24th, 2006, to Jarod Markus and Jennifer (Argiro) Markus. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Randall Argiro and cousin, Leland Argiro. Braden attended Olentangy High School. He was in his sophomore year. Most will remember him as an amazing athlete. He played football and loved Friday Night Lights, wrestling, and baseball for the Olentangy Braves, as well as travel baseball in the summers for Olentangy STIX and Triple Crown Royals. When Braden wasn’t busy with a ball in his hand or pinning an opponent on the mat, he could be found hanging out with his best friends being a typical boy, riding four wheelers, playing in the woods, working hard helping neighbors, studying, he was always side-by-side with his father, messing the house up for his mother, and driving his younger sister Ella crazy. Braden is survived by his parents, Jarod and Jennifer Markus, and sister, Ella Markus of Lewis Center. Braden is also survived by grandparents Terry and Debbie Markus of Newark, OH; and Cyndi Argiro of Poland, OH; several aunts and uncles: Tyler Markus of Newark, OH; Melissa (Dan) Florig of Hudson, OH; Patrick (Abbey) Argiro of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and Vince (Lee) Argiro of Poland. He is also survived by several cousins; Trenton and Cameron Markus, of Newark, OH; Daniel and Jack Florig, of Hudson, OH; Nicholas, Halle, and Madison Argiro, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and Genevieve, Paxtyn, Adalyn, and Kamyron Argiro, of Poland, OH. Braden was a devoted son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, friend, student, and athlete. He spent countless hours practicing hard to perfect his sports and studying to do well in school. He loved hanging out with the guys and gaming. He was best known for his smile, that could light up a room and make even the worst days for others better. His personality and laughter will be greatly missed. He was also known for the BEST fireworks show in Central Ohio! He knew how to bring friends and family together for a great party and light show every 4th of July. Braden was the type of kid that is hard to find these days. He was a hard worker that never stopped and would drop what he was doing to help anyone. Braden was also known to quote the following Psalm, 73:26: My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Braden may not have truly understood the full meaning of these beautiful words from scripture but let us use them to begin to heal. This scripture teaches us that human beings are weak. We can become wrongly spiteful and unhappy when we do not understand God's ways. However, we can resolve our unhappiness when we declare God as the most important aspect of our life. When we lean in on God and surrender to let his ways be the best ways even if we don’t understand, this is when we realize God does not fail us. To view God as his "portion," means to see the Lord as the source of happiness. Thank you, Braden, for leaving us with a little love letter to remember you by and live by. What a special soul Braden is.
