Betty Whaley

On Thursday, July 11, 2019, the Lord too home Betty Ruth (Fultz) Whaley. Betty was 79 years old and a long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Greenup County, Kentucky on March 1, 1940 to the late Harvey Green Fultz and Cora Mazila (Perry) Fultz. Betty’s family moved to Ohio and resided in Bucyrus and Milford Center. Betty was also preceded in death by many siblings. Her brothers: Lawrence, Forrest, Ronald Sr. and Robert and her sisters; Avanell Fultz, Wilma Jean Fultz, Lena Mae Musser and Linda Gibbs. On July 15, 1956 she married Paul William Whaley (Deceased in 1987) in Milford Center, Ohio. They were blessed with 6 children; Ricky Jay, who was the oldest and passed away in 1957 at 31 days old, Patricia (Jim) Holycross of Columbus, Ronald Sr. of Bellefontaine, Cora (Marvin) Hoffman of East Liberty, and Lynda Waddell of East Liberty and her youngest son William Todd, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 47. Betty was known as Nanny/Great Nanny to her grandchildren and even Nana by some. The neighborhood kids still refer to her by these names. To Betty there was no steps, so they are all counted too. Her grandchildren are Angela Dawn Holycross, James Holycross, Dusty Hoffman, Misty Hoffman, Cora “Tabby” (Jason) Bradley, Ron Whaley, Bryan Whaley, Miranda Jones, Alan Parker Anna Matthews, David Hill and our two Angels Darren and Derrick Hill. Great grand children are Aaron, Autumn, Alec, Keirsten, William, Summer, Mike, Tiara, Devin, Nevaeh, Dylan, Miguel, Rebecca, Shelby, Preston, Caiden, Kelsey. Niki, Chason, Taylor, and Brandon. Great great grandchildren are Aaron Junior “AJ”, Rowen and Gavin. Apologies to the few that I have missed. Above all Betty loved the Lord and this love was present in her life through her writing and how she lived. Betty was a published poet and song writer. Loved writing, reading, puzzles, crafts, church work, volunteer work at Inner City Mission and Food Pantries, etc. She loved fishing with a cane pole, baking, cooking, babysitting her grandkids, and had many collections. Betty loved the color purple, gospel, bluegrass, and country music. She loved her large family including many nieces, nephews and other family members. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 2pm to 4pm at the Community Free Will Baptist Church, 130 Plain City-Georgesville Rd., Galloway, Ohio with a service to follow at 4pm.. This is just before West Jefferson. A Graveside service will be at Milford Center Cemetery on Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 11 am.
