Betty Louise Schoeppner

Betty Louise Schoeppner, age 90, of Powell, Ohio, passed peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023 and is now reunited in Heaven with her husband, loved ones and our Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles and infant son, Timothy. Betty will be deeply missed by her 4 children; son, Michael (Holly) of Bucyrus, daughter Karen (John) Howell of Columbus, daughter Jane (Steve) Zubrzycki of Springboro, daughter Melissa (Dave) Selig of Orlando; 10 grandchildren; David (Era) Howell, Julie (Greg) Shadd and Kelly (Jeremy) Hardin, Sarah (Joe) Janka, Staci Zubrzycki, Kaitlyn Zubrzycki, Jonathan (Betty) Selig, Rachel (Tim) Lootens, Hannah (Jon) Kraynak and Tyler Selig; and 7 great grandchildren; Kari Shadd, Divya and Priya Howell, Jason and Ryan Hardin and Madelyn and Charlotte Janka. Betty was born in 1932 in Barnesville, Ohio. She grew up on her family's farm with her mother, father and two brothers. After Betty graduated from Barnesville High School in 1950, she went to Muskingum College where she met her husband, Charles (Chuck). Married in 1953, Betty and Chuck started their life together in Upper Sandusky where Betty worked as a telephone operator. They moved back to southeastern Ohio and then to Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1960. There, Betty worked as a receptionist at Curtis Clinic and then as a secretary in the Guidance office at Chagrin Falls High School. In 1985 Betty moved to Marietta, Ohio with her husband Chuck to be closer to their parents. There, Betty continued her involvement with young adults while working in the office of student activities at Marietta College. In 2005, they moved to Powell, Ohio to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Betty missed Chuck deeply after his passing in 2011, but she treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grammy to her 7 great-grandchildren. Betty enjoyed quilting, baking, reading and embroidery, but nothing compared to the joy she experienced by being with family. She also enjoyed traveling and sharing classic movies and musicals with her grandchildren and great grand children. Especially memorable are family trips including summer vacations in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and a 50th anniversary cruise. Betty's family gathered for her 90th birthday in 2022 to celebrate her life. Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who made spending time together memorable and holidays magical. The family will receive friends on Sunday March 5, 2023 from 2-4 pm followed by a short service at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL 450 W.
