Betty Lou Brandow Berg

Betty Lou Brandow Berg, 82, passed away February 12, 2023. Born March 23, 1940, Betty was a native of Ashland, New York, and grew up on her father’s dairy farm. She graduated from Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing, Baltimore, Maryland, with a Diploma in Nursing, 1960. She earned a Bachelor of Social Science in Public Policy from Penn State University, 1985, and did postgraduate studies at DeSales University, Allentown, Pennsylvania. During her long and distinguished nursing career, she served many communities in several states, including Maryland, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. She had a deep love for her family, especially her beloved husband Tom. They had a full life and enjoyed traveling together through the years in Scotland, England, Ireland, and around parts of Italy. She enjoyed deeply loving relationships with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Elwood and Alice Brandow and her brother Elwood Brandow, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas M. Berg, Sr.; her children Thomas M. Berg, Jr. (Donna), Anne Berg Smith (Edward), Michael B. Berg (Kimberley), Peter H. Berg (Kelly), and Stephen C. Berg (Kimberly); her grandchildren Anastasia, Rachel, Natalie, Caitlin, Kelly, Cara, Sarah, Amanda, Haleigh, Amanda, Madalyn, Jonathan, Justin, Jamie, Ryan, Tyler, Adriana, and Jacob; and her great-grandchildren Joseph, Sybil, Eleanor, Lily, Allison, Pierce, Olivia, Mila, Liam, Brayden, August, Isabella, Mason, Oliver, and Max. Betty is also survived by her sister Patricia Brandow Swanson (Roger) and nephew and niece Glenn and Elin. Betty’s family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd. Powell, Ohio, on Monday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, following the Mass. Donations in memory of Betty may be sent to St. Anselm’s Benedictine Abbey, 4501 South Dakota Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20017. .
