Barbara J. Schroeder

Barbara Joan Schroeder (Schnelker), age 73, passed into eternal life on Sunday, May 26, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born in Crestline, OH on January 24, 1940, she lived in Galion, OH, was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Grade School, Galion High School (1958 Homecoming Queen) and Mt. Carmel School of Nursing in 1961. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary, sisters Peggy and Sister Mary Ann, OSF. Barbara is survived by her husband Ed, children Ed (Sue), Theresa A. Canute, Joseph (Chris) and Ann Marie (Patrick) Jones; her sister Norma Metz and brothers Dan and Rick. Rick donated a kidney to his sister in 1988. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Allyson, Amanda, Audrey, Caroline, Carissa, Christine, Claire, Kyle, Madison, Megan, Aaron and Ryan. Barbara’s life was centered on family and strived to be all things to her children as homemaker, transporter, tutor and cheerleader. She enjoyed working in Labor and Delivery at the Old St. Ann’s Hospital, as school nurse at St. Michael and managing her travel agency, but she enjoyed most her role as mother. The family extends their thanks to all doctors, nurses and staff at 5North at OSU East and 9East Rhodes at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. A special thanks to Lee Hebert, MD and Michael Burgin, MD who gave very special care to her. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00p.m. WEDNESDAY at ST. BRIGID OF KILDARE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, OH 43017 with Reception of the Body Service at 3:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am. THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2013 at ST. BRIGID OF KILDARE CATHOLIC CHURCH with The Reverend Monsignor Joseph M. Hendricks, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, Lewis Center, Ohio.
