Amy E. Richardson

Amy Elizabeth Richardson, 43, of Powell, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2011 at Kobacker House Hospice with her loving family by her side. Amy was born on December 6, 1967 to Joyce Petsch (Finch) and David Petsch in Iowa City, Iowa. Amy graduated from Iowa City City High in 1986 and from the University of Iowa in 1990 with a degree in economics. Amy began her career with Andersen Consulting and then with Quaker Oats in Chicago. She met her husband, Michael, while at Andersen working in Columbus, Ohio. They were married in 1996 in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati where they started a family. They moved to Powell, Ohio in 2004. Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 but she never let the disease define her. She maintained a healthy lifestyle throughout her time with cancer, playing tennis and walking in events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Amy was very active in her children's education and supporting the local schools as well as helping them to excel in their sports so they could grow to be healthy. She particularly loved spending time at Integrity Gymnastics with her daughter. Amy also was giving of her time with others diagnosed with cancer, helping them to understand how they, too, could live a dynamic life even with the disease and providing emotional support. Amy was most proud of her children and leaves them as a treasure to the world. Many have said that Amy was an inspiration, demonstrating for all how to be a better mother, wife, and friend; we are all better for having had Amy in our lives. It is with these thoughts and memories that we say we love you, Amy, and pray for peace. Amy is survived by her husband, Michael; three children, Joshua (13), Emily (11), and Jonah (8); mother, Joyce; father, David; sister, Becky; and nephews, Max, Perrin, Alex, Kyle, and Connor. The family would like to thank all that have provided such wonderful support during Amy's last days. It is truly appreciated. The family will be receiving friends at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 W. Olentangy St. (Powell Rd./St. Rt. 750/1/4 mile east of Sawmill Pkwy.), Powell, OH 43065 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 where a funeral service will be held at 12Noon on Friday, June 17, 2011 which will be followed by comments and memories from friends and family. Fr. Raymond Larussa presiding. Burial will follow at the Dublin Cemetery at the corner of Bridge St. and Monterey Dr. in Old Dublin.
