Abbie Ann Barbieri

BARBIERI Abbie Ann Barbieri of Dublin, OH, died peacefully with family at her side in Dublin, OH on Monday, August 9, 2010. Abbie was born on December 13, 1921, beloved daughter of Gertrude (Crowther) and Charles Fritche in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Her parents both pre-deceased her. Abbie married Alfred R. Crisi and had two wonderful children who survive her; Gayle DeVaux of Dublin, OH with whom she lived since 2004 and Charles F. Crisi (Linda Gooch) of Daytona Beach, FL. Abbie married Dominick (Don) A. Barbieri and was widowed in 2003. Abbie and Don were dance partners performing and teaching Ballroom Dancing. Abbie was also pre-deceased by a beloved granddaughter Debra Heim-Meyer in 2003 and her son-in-law Donald M. DeVaux in 2002. Abbie is survived by her loved grandchildren, Sue Meyer and her husband, Mark Peterson of Carlsbad, CA and Alex Winkelstern and her husband, Ken Winkelstern of New Milford, CT, Charles W. Crisi of NC, Victoria DeVaux and Scott DeVaux, both of Cincinnati, OH, and Kevin DeVaux of Florence, KY; adored great-grandchildren Eric and Gregory Winkelstern of New Milford, CT, Carter and Ryder Peterson-Meyer of Carlsbad, CA; and sister Janice B. Fritche of Dobbs Ferry, NY. Abbie, sharing with the rest of the dance line of the Roxy Theater where she danced, sold War Bonds and Stamps at the corner of 7th Avenue and 50th Street in New York City wearing a sailor costume she requested from the wardrobe mistress in 1942. Abbie was a proud employee of the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation Dept. at the Carriage Place Rec. Center from 1999 until July 27, 2010. Also a proud member of the Premier at Sawmill Athletic Club for 12 years where she enjoyed aerobics, zumba and swimming. Abbie was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was loved by so many. Abbie was an avid NASCAR fan attending many races over the years in N.E. Connecticut, the Bud Shoot Out and the Daytona 500. She enjoyed most sports. Abbie was a graduate of Ardsley High School, Ardsley, NY and a graduate of the Unviersity of Vermont with a Bachelor Degree in foreign language. Abbie owned and operated a dancing school for many years teaching ballet, tap and ballroom dancing. Abbie requests no services and in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Carriage Place Recreation Center, 4900 Sawmill Rd., Columbus, OH 43235.
