Theodore Daniel "Ted" Campbell

Theodore Daniel "Ted" Campbell, 89, of Columbus died May 31 at Wesley Glen. Ted was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Victoria Campbell on August 5, which was also his dad's birthday. Ted was a man of great faith and loved his family with all his heart. He enjoyed bowling, golf, family vacations to Lake Erie, and was an avid Ohio State fan. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of over 58 years, Molly Gallagher Campbell. He was also preceded by his sister, Patricia Phillips; sister-in- law, Martha Bell; brothers-in- law, Ned Gallagher and George Bell; and nieces, Dr. Janice Gallagher and Nancy Campbell. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Cowell; granddaughter, Tiffany Skinner and her husband, Tommy; great grandchildren, Derek and Kate Skinner; brothers, Joseph (Jodie), Victor (Carolyn), Brian (Susan); sister-in- law, Helen Gallagher; brother-in- law, David Phillips; many nieces and nephews, and dear friends and former neighbors, the Rinderle family. Ted's family moved from Cleveland to Grandview, Ohio, then settled in the Clintonville area of Columbus a short time later. He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish for over 75 years. He graduated from Immaculate Conception School class in 1940, St. Charles High School in 1944, and went on to the Naval Officers Training Program for two years until WWII ended and he was honorably discharged. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948. Ted worked for the Alexander Smith Carpet Company after college for three years, then joined Nationwide Insurance Companies where he worked the rest of his career, retiring with 37 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the Columbus Literacy Council, for Riverside Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister, and driving for the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center. He was active in Immaculate Conception parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister as well as other volunteer roles over the years.
