Sandra Lee Harp

HARP nee SAWYERSandra Lee Sawyer Harp, age 55, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, following a lengthy battle with pulmonary hypertension. Her passing followed by one day her civil union ceremony, in which she joined with her devoted partner and soulmate of 8 1/2 years, Anthony R. Taylor, in a pledge of commitment before family and friends. A beautiful ceremony of eternal love on a perfect spring afternoon concluded her last full day on earth. Born July 27, 1953, to Mary Janice (Lay) Sawyer and the late William Thomas Childs Sawyer, she attended Upper Arlington High School before beginning a career in retail sales in Columbus, OH. Her sales job in a puppet shop led to her joining a puppet troop for a government sponsored tour of the far East, teaching puppet making to school children in Japan, the Phillipines and S. Korea. Following that, she worked as a Vista Volunteer in Mount Vernon, OH before returning to Columbus. In addition to Mr. Taylor and her mother she is survived by her brothers, Steven A. Sawyer & Jayson D. (Hong) Sawyer; aunts, Kay (Ed) Moorehead, Marion (Rod) Dibbert; cousins, Lucy Ann Pliskin, Chris (Steve) Brandt, Matt (Janie) Moorehead, Eric Moorehead; nieces, Lauren Sawyer, Karla (Clayton) Ballard; nephew, Jonathan Sawyer; step niece, Jennifer Hu; step nephews, Joshua & Michael Hu; former sister-in-law and friend Alicia Sawyer; and her special feline friend Powder. Special thanks to Dr. Deryck Richardson her friend & counselor, and life long best friend, Joyce Hunter. Sandra's family is grateful for the affection, kindness and generosity of these friends & sisters of Mr. Taylor, Marilyn Springs and Lisa Sperry. Many thanks to the staff of the 8th floor of Rhodes Hall, The Ohio State University Hospitals for their loving and skilled care of Sandy during her many stays in recent years.
