Christine B. Swords

Christine B. Swords (Bardy) born August 14, 1935, died peacefully at home on July 14, 2012 after a lengthy illness. \"Tina\" was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Anna Bardy, her son Bruce W. Swords, brother-in-law Gaylon (Alice) Swords, and sister-in-law Marjorie (Lee) Gilbreath. Survived by loving husband and caregiver Wendell S. Swords of Upper Arlington, son Randall (Marcia) Swords and their children Nathaniel (11) and Eva (7) of Upper Arlington, daughter-in-law Kathryn Swords and her children Sara (14) and John (12) of Nashville, sisters Deanna Bardy and Audrey Bardy, both of Grosse Pointe, MI, niece Michelle Pettit of Bishop, CA, nephew Christopher Pettit of Grosse Pointe, cousins Elaine Novak, Harry Novak, and Donald Novak all of Michigan, and cousin Antonika Bardhi of Florence, Italy. Also survived by nieces Gail (Mike) Regnery of Colorado, Kittie Swords of Vandalia, OH, Gina (Tommy) Seay of Enon, OH, Amy (Mike) Lewis of Chicago, and nephews Gary Swords of Dayton, OH, Greg (Cindy) Swords of Dublin, OH, Joel (Joyce) Swords of Springfield, OH, and Ed (Cindy) Gilbreath of Cedar Grove, IN. Tina earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University and was working as a public health nurse in Detroit when she met Wendell in Chicago in June, 1958. They weremarried October 31, 1959, and she then worked for the American Red Cross in Columbus before devoting her time to raising her children. She volunteered at the Association for the Developmentally Disabled for over 4 years along with the Columbus Literacy Council, Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Arthritis Foundation. She enjoyed worship at St. John's United Church of Christ and was active in Esther Circle and the Senior Christian Fellowship at the church. Wendell would like to send a special thank you to all of the dedicated caregivers who assisted him over the years.
