Aline Chapman Scott

Aline Chapman Scott, age 89, formerly from Worthington and Piedmont Ohio as well as Sebastian Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter Susan’s home on October 14, 2024. She is survived by her daughters Susan and Jean. Aline was born January 22, 1935 in Cleveland Ohio, daughter of the late Lena and Alfred Chapman. She graduated from High School in Cleveland Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University. She had a prosperous career in Social Work. Proudly and joyfully she retired at age 54! Aline met her husband-to-be, when Clyde was a member of the Tommy Jones Demolay Chapter. Aline was a dedicated and active member in many Masonic Fraternities: Rainbow Girls and Grand Cross of Color. She served on the Advisory Board of the Worthington Chapter #127 International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was also Mother Advisor when her daughters Beth and Jean were Worthy Advisors. Aline and Clyde also established the Beth Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund that continues to this day. Aline was initiated into the Worthington Chapter #287 Order of Eastern Star on January 10, 1979. She held several positions in Star: Esther (1980), Associate Conductress (1981), Conductress (1982), Associate Matron (1983), Worthy Matron and Clyde was Worthy Patron (1984), Prompter/Pro Tem (1985,1986,1987), Secretary (1991,1992), and Ruth (1993, 1997). Happily, she was Worthy Matron with Clyde as Worthy Patron of Sebastian Chapter #204 Order of Eastern Star. Aline was also an active member of DAR Daughters of the American Revolution Treasure Coast Chapter as well as the Mayflower Society, Stephen Hopkins Colony in Vero Beach, Florida. Aline and Clyde both enjoyed volunteering at the Indian River County Genealogical Society in Sebastian, Florida. More than anything she loved spending time with family. She and Clyde created many memorable traditions for Birthdays and Holidays. Like Clyde, one of her favorite Holidays was Thanksgiving at the Lake. She and Jean would get up early in the morning and make the traditional Scottish oatmeal stuffing then stuff the turkey. Clyde always carved the turkey. She loved her stuffed animals Tom, the turkey and Snow Bob the snowman. Her brother in law Ken, wife Rita and his family were also there in one Cottage away. We all enjoyed spending time together. There was a lot of laughter, adult beverages, meals together, chopping down trees, big bonfires and of course many shenanigans! Aline was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and helped the girls earn their badges. She was also a beautiful seamstress and taught Beth and Sue how to sew. She made the girls Halloween costumes and dresses for Rainbow Girls. Other hobbies and talents included gardening, canning, freezing, making floral arrangements, painting ceramics, stained glass art and calligraphy. She was the BEST Mom! Beloved loving wife to her late husband Clyde for 68 years and loving mother of Beth, Susan and Jean (Ken). Survived also by sister in laws Marie (John) Scott and Rita (Ken) Scott, Godson Brian Scott and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Alfred Chapman, brother Charles Jones and sister Gladys Hagler. Clyde and his brothers John, Ken and Willie. Clyde’s sisters Lucille Wallace, Mary (Edward) Spence and Nancy Gibbons (Ray) and the tragic loss of her daughter Beth. There will be no funeral or Celebration of Life Service per her wishes.
