Obituary:
Connie Bixel (Detwiler) died Thursday, February 11, 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer. She died as she lived, surrounded by family. She was a former resident of Vinton County, and took great joy in serving all those who crossed her path for 25 years in O.P.I.E. at Ohio University. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Detwiler. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Bixel, her children, Bernadette, Joe, and Debbie and 10 grandchildren. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Reynoldsburg. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at the church. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00-11:00 before the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure or Fair HoPe Hospice and Palliative Care at the Pickering House. Arrangements by: Rutherford Funeral Home, 2383 North High Street, Columbus.
