Obituary:
Theresa (Terry) Gayle Turner Brandt Barnes passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Wesley Glen Retirement Community, surrounded by loving family and support staff. Terry and her husband have made their home for the past four years at Wesley Glen in Columbus, Ohio. Terry was born in New Plymouth, Ohio, June 11, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Schmidt Turner and Carl Odell Turner and her first husband, Thomas L. Brandt. Theresa (Terry) was a graduate of McArthur High School in 1957 and a graduate of Ohio University in 1961. Over the years her gift in music was demonstrated by her having taught Vocal Music in Logan City Schools, Logan, Ohio, and her participation in a Gospel Trio that performed for churches and various organizations. She again used her gift as organist for the First Presbyterian Church as well as the Immanuel U.M. Church in Logan, and the Church of the Saviour U.M. in Westerville, Ohio. Terry worked as an Executive Secretary at Hocking College, Nelsonville, Ohio, and Diamond Power Specialty Company in Lancaster, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, Verrill W. Barnes, and her sister, Marilyn M. Turner, of New Plymouth, Ohio, as well as by numerous friends, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law. Services celebrating Terry's life will be held at Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220, Saturday, May 2, with visitation from 9:30-10:30, service at 10:30 and at Wesley Glen Retirement Community Auditorium, 5155 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214, Friday, May 8, at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at New Plymouth Cemetery, New Plymouth, Ohio, Saturday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either Meadow Park Church of God, New Plymouth U.M. Church (Cherry Ridge Road, New Plymouth, Ohio) or Wesley Glen Charitable Care Fund.
